MOLOCK'S TOP ALBUMS OF 2025
THIS TOOK WAY LONGER THAN NECESSARY
2025 has definitely not been my favorite year!
Make no mistake, I have liked many good albums from 2025. I'm just not sure my dick is blown off! That being said, I had a lot of contenders, and narrowed the list down to a top 10, and 3 honorable mentions.
I WAS a bit neglectful, and only listened to 77 albums this year, apparently.
Here's hoping 2026 properly wets my willy, but, anyway, here's the list.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Castle Rat - The Bestiary
Genre: Traditional Heavy/Doom Metal
Origin: New York
Listen, about 80% of the reason this made the list is because the band is called Castle Rat, and by gum, I want it on my list. The album is alright too!
Vauruvã - Mar da deriva
Genre: Atmoblack, Brazilian Folk
Origin: Brazil
It's black metal, it's Brazillian folk music! This is a good album, but I'd be more receptive to it, if I didn't think that Kaatarya did it better, before them.
Jim Ghedi - Wasteland
Genre: Irish/English Folk
Origin: England
This is an unlikely entry onto my list. It's some traditional folk music, and it hits just right, if you ask me.
AND THE ACTUAL TOP 10 ALBUMS OF 2025
10. Sleep Paralysis - Sleep Paralysis
Genre: Experimental Black Metal / Ragtime / Chiptune
Origin: Michigan
This is music for Belphagor sitting on your chest, playing ragtime tunes. Shit is really cool, a'ight?
09. Evoken - Mendacium
Genre: Funeral Doom
Origin: New Jersey
Not music for blasting down the highway. It's music for brooding in the dark, and becoming one with the black mold.
08. Hooded Menace - Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration
Genre: Death Doom Metal
Origin: Finland
Swedish death metal with some tight ass solos, except it's Finnish, actually.
07. Kostnatění - Přílišnost (Excess)
Genre: Progressive Black Metal? I dunno man
Origin: Czechia?
It's got that blackened punk energy, in the way that it's kinda just doing whatever the fuck it wants. This could be higher, tbh.
06. Titanic - Hagen
Genre: Art Pop
Origin: Mexico
I know! Doesn't seem like my speed! But I actually like some pop, when it goes a bit off kilter. Check it out.
05. ByoNoiseGenerator - Subnormal Dives
Genre: Brutal Jazz / Deathgrind
Origin: Somewhere in Russia I guess
So I heard you like jazz.
04. Qrixkuor - The Womb of the World
Genre: Symphonic Death Metal
Origin: England
This is the sound of the oncoming apocalypse, the sound of seven trumpets, judgment is calling. So, anyway, easy listening.
03. Cave Sermon - Fragile Wings
Genre: Progressive Death Metal
Origin: Australia
I see this labeled as post metal, and if I’m frank, I have no idea what that actually really means. I mean, I know in a sense, but, like, whatever man. But what I do know, is I like Cave Sermon. Any of these top 3 albums could've been my pick of the year.
02. Imperial Triumphant - Goldstar
Genre: Experimental Death Metal
Origin: New York
Imperial Triumphant's brand of art deco death metal. Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle made into sound. I actually prefer their 2018 album, Vile Luxury, and don't think they've been as good as that since then, but, I can't deny this record is pretty dope.
01. Messa - The Spin
Genre: Doom Metal / Gothrock
Origin: Italy
My album of the year, actually. It's pretty accessible, as far as stuff that generaly make my list. Sara Blanchin's vocals are great here, the hooks are catchy, the solos are sick. What can I say, it got more spins than anything else I listened to this year.
